She's Sunrises
Wrote this a few years ago; some of the most fun I've had writing. Have as much fun reading!I never put any music to it, not sure if that'd be appropriate for this. But I'd love to hear thoughtsIt starts when the sun goes downIt's a perfect sun setLight penetrates,Just for a moment thatwe could see everything around
Windows are open to her soulThe breeze so invitingebb and flow,Her page was full of writingThe words written from high to low
She looks to the sky andSees no cloudsHer perception of it allSo beautiful and loudShe hears her symphony andListens to heavenHer perecption of it allTingles on her skin
It's a song that needs singingThe melody and harmonyA flawless duetSing for now, so slowlyLeave their ears so sweetly ringing
She's looks forward to the sun riseOnce, each and every dayRising the horizontalBehind the singing blue-jayRed and orange reflected in her eyes
She looks to the sky andSee no cloudsHer perception of it allSo beautiful and loudshe hears her symphony andListens to heavenHer perception of it allTingles on her skin

Awesome piece, the imagery and flow made it so easy to read. And I'm thinking that It'd sound better -in my opinion- with the lift pre-chorus, that way the chorus would have a grander, more contrasting sound to the verses. The only thing that stuck out to me that could be fixed, was in the second stanza, last line: "And I'm outta cash" would maybe fit better as "And I'm all outta cash".
Can't say I've ever been to a barn dance, but you make it sound worth it! I can definetly hear this being on the country radio stations around here
One Day
"One Day" - Josh Church (me)I finished writing this a few weeks ago, but It just doesn't feel as complete as it could. I guess what I'd like all of your opinions on is: 1. What genre would you see this falling under, as you're reading it? 2. The Rhyme scheme is a little loose, I know...do you think that's a problem, or does it flow fairly well?3. Overall Impression?Appreciate you taking the time to read it, hope you enjoy!I'm writing you from the weight on my shouldersTo your smeared makeup that rolls like a boulderI wish I was just a little bolder, but I'll sing from a distanceWhy won't you just talk me down and intoWho I am or who am I to youNo one gave their time to learning me wellThat's why, you see this is giving me hellOne day you'll get this letterYou realize you don't know whetherThe grass is greener where you stand, the sky clearer... Or the path you came in on and the clouds behind youThis letter is sealed for one dayFor one day that you need a heartA day apart that you cried and fought for meFor one day I'll be goneA ghost between your fingers when you grab outThe wet on your cheek that follows your tearI breathe you in like smoke and yesterdaysEverything you do makes me want to be more like youA role model to a model of what not to doExhale what's left of our memoriesPeople can change and so can tunesYour so much like your family I wish you knewThe lengths I'd go to not lose you againBut I'd have to battle for your mind and your love againWhen you get this letter loveTear it up and throw it outSwear a promise you'll hear me outNever a fit like you did meNever a mate to your soul like I could beFor one day this will be all that's leftA sad attempt at your sad eyesA second in your arms could save my lifeFor one dayFor one day
When Everything Became Nothing
A year later and this piece still hits home, one of my more emotionally driven songs. Any type of comments/criticisms are welcome, hope you enjoy! There we go drifting offinto space, the lid blew off the top
The past holds whatever's leftwhatever secrets your heart has kept
You left our light burning in the darkNow all that's left is a sparkHere we goThere we go
This river pulls out the restIt tells us that we failed its test
You turned away and whispered thingsBut in my ears they all still ringThere we goHere we go
So show me what is on your sleeveAt the very least tell me to breatheTell your friends I won't be longTell them all I did you wrong
But in the end what do we have leftOnly the memories that we keptThere we goHere we go
So show me what is on your sleeveAt the very least tell me to breatheTell your friends I won't be longTell them all I did you wrong
Did we have something that never wasWere we chasing an invisible buzzWhy would I remember every dayI feel the way I feel today
It's a crime now that we've committedI have the confession you admittedBroken hearts and rattled mindsDon't look now, but here comes time
But you won't take my mind from meBe happy with my heart you seeI'll never give an inch for youNever ask for the truth from you
But you won't take my mind from meBe happy with my heart you seeI'll never give an inch for youNever ask for the truth from you
