Redneck (3rd Rewrite)
Copyright 2015 by Wes Tibbets

VERSE ONE

I'm just a country boy
Prayin' for the rain
Drinking my corn liquor
And raising a little cane
You can have the city
That fast life's not for me
I'd rather be off fishin'
Sittin' underneath a tree

CHORUS

I'm redneck
Redneck to the bone
And the red, white and blue
Is the only home I know
I'm redneck
I've got a heart of gold
I party with Good Time Charlie
And drink til the bars all close

VERSE TWO

Tonight I'm getting rowdy
And drink until the dawn
Kick back on a tailgate
And listen to a country song
Maybe wrestle an alligator
Go swimming in the moonlight
Get honey from a buckle bunny
That'll keep me up all night

CHORUS

I'm redneck
Redneck to the bone
And the red, white and blue
Is the only home I know
I'm redneck
I've got a heart of gold
I party with Good Time Charlie
And drink til the bars all close

BRIDGE

I’m a fun lovin’, beer chuggin’
Hard workin’ man
Deer huntin’, country bumpkin
Redneck til the end

CHORUS

I'm redneck
Redneck to the bone
And the red, white and blue
Is the only home I know
I'm redneck
I've got a heart of gold
I party with Good Time Charlie
And drink til the bars all close

TAG

I'm redneck
Redneck to the bone

Wes,

Liked the song a lot, I could defintley hear it playing in my head to a country tune. Easy to read and the structure I'm sure would make it very easy to listen to. If this is on open mic I'll for sure be giving it a couple listens!

The only problem I had was the second half of the second verse (the last 4 lines). It just didn't seem very cohesive or smooth. I'm sure it would work on its own, but the way the rest of the verses are laid out, it seemed like a little bit of a mouthful, and it kind of strayed from the rhyme scheme. But that might just be me, and hopefully that makes sense.

Hi Josh,

Sure, it makes sense. I've been piddling on this tonight anyway. I'll certainly take your input into consideration. Best wishes!
