.....  guess I kind of arrived a bit too late.

I found this site link while reading some tips and such on MAB's website and thought the idea of sharing some songs, receiving critique, and scoping out the works of other songwriters would be fun so here I am. After reading some of the threads about the activity level being low and quite a few last posts in topics being 2015, I would have a sense that this site might be another casualty of FaceBook (which I utterly hate). Who knows, maybe I am wrong.

A little about me. I am in my early 50's and have been writing songs (most not very good I am sure) since the first time I picked up a guitar and decided I would learn how to play, which wasn't until I was about 21 years old if I remember correctly. I figured it wasn't too late to start since frank Zappa didn't start playing until he was 21 as well.

I went for a number of years writing quite a few songs but never did anything with them and soon It was as if all my songwriting desires/abilities/inspiration (take your pick) dried up and for many years I had not written a new song. Luckily a few years back I was noodling on the guitar and a new song just poured out (I like those kind). It inspired me to continue playing and writing more and although the inspiration seems 'touch and go' at times, I finally decided to start making whatever recording I could of what I have, as time and drive dictates, so at least when I am I toes up and pushing daisies, maybe my kids, grandkids, etc.. might be inspired to pursue the art.

lately I have been gaining advice and direction from a friend in Nashville I met through Ham Radio. We Skype occasionally and I bounce songs off him from time to time and he is good for a honest critique. He is not afraid to say "this is all crap but this one is more up tempo and might have a chance", etc....

My philosophy; I would rather be told my 'crap' is 'crap' than to be stroked for fear of "hurting my feelings". I don't have many feelings at all, and what little I do have has been poured into my music, and an occasional surprise gift for my wife, kids, or grandkids.

Oh, and btw, I really don't drink beer that often so it's cool if y'all already emptied the cooler.
