This is an old lyric I've wanted for a long time to hear with music. With his raw vocals, guitar, and bodhran, firecircle has given the song a haunting Celtic/folk quality.
I hope you enjoy it. (-:

Deep Blue Chill
(v1)
Uncombed, unkempt, uncared for
He crouches near a tree
His wild eyes follow closely
The groups of two or three
But what he’s really looking at
Is nothing we can see
Pre-chorus
Don’t turn away, don’t criticise
Look on him with kindly eyes
Chorus
For in the deep blue chill of the universe
One candle and its tiny flame
May be a blazing beacon
To a man on the edge of insane
Breathing in and out
Without relief
The lilac-laden scent of grief
(v2)
Resigned, remote, and rigid
She’s huddled in a chair
Her sad eyes staring inward
At someone who’s not there
But what she’s really thinking of
Is nothing we can share
Pre-chorus
Don’t turn away, don’t criticise
Look on her with kindly eyes
Chorus
For in the deep blue chill of the universe
One candle and its tiny flame
May be a blazing beacon
To a woman who’s always been blamed
Breathing in and out
In mute despair
The copper-laden scent of fear
Bridge
Behold the child, behold the man
The woman doing what she can
Fighting bravely, though they know
The road will get harder as they go
Chorus
But in the deep blue chill of the universe
One candle and its tiny flame
May be a blazing beacon
To forgotten people filled with pain
Breathing in and out
Close to madness
The lily-laden scent of sadness
