Michael Prather songs
I've had this one in my PLR for a while thinking that it needed more but after having Diane and Gilly look at it, they thought it stood on it's own so I decided to put it up as is :)
Mike
Are You Still Out There
Michael L Prather
It was in an old cathedral
that I last saw you
A refuge from the storm
that we had ducked in to
The cold was hanging on
as the rain refused to go
I offered you my overcoat
and we sang a song of old
Our voices lifted high
to the holes the rain came through
to be carried on the wind
to find a sky of blue
And as the rain was slowing
we shared a sweet embrace
til we were chased away
by a man with dour face
We said goodbye at the station
I feared you would not return
You gave me a pink ribbon
and a scarf to keep me warm
The years have floated on
like our voices did that day
you disappeared from view
like a storm that dies away
Are you still out there
somewhere far away
maybe in an old Cathedral
thinking of that day
