Baby What You Trying To Do
Michael L. Prather
I came to the city just to follow you
You said that you needed me there
But when I look into your empty eyes
I wonder why I'm here
you hate me .. you need me
you want me .. decieve me
you love me .. you leave me
baby what you trying to do
living in the city but it's not my home
everywhere I look I see cold hard stone
You said follow me and you'll live your dreams
but things ain't what they seem
you hate me .. you need me
you want me .. you decieve me
you love me .. you leave me
baby what you trying to do
Gonna pack my bags and leave this town
head back home where I belong
If you think you want me no need to call
the love we had is gone ..
you hate me .. you need me
you want me .. decieve me
you love me .. you leave me
baby what you trying to do

AlexStangl 2012-08-26 | You really put it together Mike - like the arrangement - the beginning and ending instrumental hooks might have been good for another in the middle - fabola song - to the point, very catchy - ~AS~ |
mlprat 2012-08-26 | Thanks Alex, I thought it might need a bridge or lead break .. but I got lazy lol. [Delete] |
geediane 2012-08-26 | Love it, Mike! Everything here sounds great! but you should know that I would not hate ya or leave ya... |
JamesCain 2012-08-26 | Love that guitar playing. Plus this is a fun melody. Well done James |
sdgetunes 2012-08-26 | Love the retro rocker feel. My favorite kinda' tune. Ed Dunn |
BGJeff 2012-08-26 | Very cool. Vocal and melody are terrific, and I like the chorus a lot. I think you should fire your drummer, though. |
j.yonks 2012-08-26 | Very cool song Mikey! John |
TWH 2012-08-26 | I like the lyrics, and everything else... cept the drum trax. Maybe it's just me but it seems out of sync. Other than that I enjoyed the listen. TwH |
Beeswing 2012-08-26 | what a cool retro sound you have going here Mikey! Your voice is just perfect for this kind of style! :) |
rustyblake 2012-08-26 | Alex mentioned the instrumental hooks and I agree so much. He articulates where I stumble! Really catchy, especially the chorus and very entertaining. Rusty |
ottlukk 2012-08-26 | Nicely done, real smooth. Ott |
mfrazier 2012-08-26 | Feels like a bit too much reverb or delay on the drums, puts them a milisecond off time to my ears. I really like this song Mike. Great set of lyrics and the melody works really well. Vocal gives me an Orbison feel. Love your guitar work. Nicely done. |
Rard 2012-08-27 | dig the 'take that' sentiment. the stab'e chorus has wonderful contrast to the more woven verse melody. there's a rock'n edge to this that provides a 'hey wait a minute' I gotta hear that again. nicely done Mr. M. |
kfl44 2012-08-27 | very nice, love the drums, nice harmonies Kenny |
Notewordy 2012-08-27 | serious delivered with snide and comedy. very cool. |
joesilveira 2012-08-28 | Very Nice. love The Intro. Great Guitar. Awesome Vocal. Joe |
teecee 2012-08-29 | Love the guitars Mike, lyrics and vocal are just excellent too! T |
TimothyScott 2012-08-29 | Love the groove,Mike and the percussion intro & outro..seems fairly structured maybe due to the drums but retains your passionate vocal style...I dig the guitar riffing and pop feel..;)--ts |
musiclover08 2012-08-29 | Got a another smile on my face after listening to yet another of your songs Mike. Super words, singing and playing. However I do agree with the coments about the drums, yet I still LOVE! BTW.... you have my casper vote! [Delete] |
GillySlinn 2012-08-30 | Oooh! Big production Mikey! Love the melody and structure - and of course your vocals are stellar as always. Jamstix need a wee bit of practice - but that's a very minor detail. Great stuff. |
paintmonster1 2012-09-01 | I dig your guitar playing and vocals work very well with the style of the write. Just my 2 cents on the drums... besides what's already mentioned about the timing...maybe a different drum pattern might fit better. Respectfully :) Trent |
mlprat 2012-09-01 | Sorry about the drums folks .. I'll do better next time. [Delete] |
lps45s8tracks 2012-09-01 | (;AWESOME LYRICS;)Well written.Enjoyed Da Listen.Love it.Nicely done.Your Songramp Bro.(~;Yrral Mallik;~) |
billdraper 2012-09-02 | Nicely put together Michael... I like it all! Bill |
LEXZ 2012-09-04 | Grabs you fast and doesn't let go. Fine guitar sound complements the fine song writing and delivery. |
angie 2012-09-06 | Cool story song, Mike! I like everything about this really. The sticks, acoustic guitar work, singing, change up in the rhythm from verse to chorus, story, singing. Great song! |
Quados 2012-09-09 | Love the voice. Enjoyed the listen. Billy. |
rhallcne 2012-09-15 | Excellent love this tune. Well done. The flow is perfectly done!! Thanks for sharing...rick hall |
pianoman3 2012-10-02 | I know this musta been a challenge for you - working to a click and adding drums but you DID it, buddy! (-: To me, this is a good Pop song with a strong chorus and a nice uppy, happy feel and a cool lyric.. not Rock. BUT 'it's about the song' and you've written a good'un which would sound great with a band performing it. I liked to 'honky-tonk-woman' style guitar licks and I think the sweet lead parts would be more Rock if they were dirty and bendy. Great to hear you out of 'the box', Mikey. Now, kick ass with Jamsticks and let's hear more Rock songs from you. Thanks for sharing. ~ John |
mlprat 2012-10-04 | Yeah, I agree it's probably not rock .. but for some reason I hate the label "pop" .. it's such a muddy moiled genre .. :) [Delete] |
Harris 2012-11-02 | Pop, rock, country. Who cares. It's really nicely done, Michael. |
Theea 2013-07-18 | Lovin' the lyrics, especially the chorus, they describe a very old past relationship of mine. Really nice! |
