This was written for someone I know that suffers from PTSD
who served our country with honor. It is also for all active duty
and veterans who have scars that haven't healed.
"Scars That Never Heal"
(C) Anthony Lynn Powers 2015
v1
On the edge of a barstool
is the place he always sat
drinking Irish whiskey
just trying to forget
Two tours in Afghanistan
in his mind he's there still
but he can't drink away
somethings that seen so real
Chorus
When you say your prayers tonight
think of him
the things he saw
for us the things he did
Reach out a helping hand
let him know how you feel
cause sometimes a memory
can leave scars that never heal
v2
He hears cries in the silence
that no one else can hear
sees things of in the distance
when there's nothing there
For him the war is over
but that's not how it feels
Because the things that he saw
has left scars that haven't healed
repeat first chorus
bridge
We can't let our hero's
who fought and made it home
fade into the background
or ever walk alone
Last Chorus
When you say your prayers
tonight think of them
the things they saw
for us the things they did
reach out a helping hand
let them know how you feel
cause some times a memory
can leave scars that never healed.
end verse
When you say your prayers tonight
thank God for them
end
