I wrote this song while driving on vacation this weekend, polished it up when I came back. My voice has been mostly gone lately due to allergies ... It was sort of there today so I decided to do a quick rough guitar/vocal on this one.
Hank Williams And Shakespeare
Mike Prather
She's dressed in white
I'm dressed in Black
She's drinking wine
I'm drinking Jack
In the mirror I catch her eye
She's probably thinking who is this guy
in them faded pants who thinks he's got a chance
then she smiles at me says won't you buy me a drink
I slide on over and we
Talk about Hank Williams and Shakespeare
fine expensive wines and cold beer
We've got nothing in common but tonight
it's just her and I
She says she's hungry
I say I could eat
We walk through the door
and out to the street
There at the curb is her Mercedes Benz
But we take my truck she climbs in
with a smile and a glance
I think there might be a chance
she picks a restaurant and we
Talk about Hank Williams and Shakespeare
fine expensive wines and cold beer
We've got nothing in common
but tonight it's just her and I
We talk about Hank Williams and Shakespeare
fine expensive wines and cold beer
We've got nothing in common
but tonight it's just her and I
Oh tonight .. it's just her and I
You're dressed in white
I'm dressed in Black
You say I do
I say it back
I lift up your veil
and give you a kiss
who could have known
there'd be a moment like this
when you're family and mine
Talk about Hank Williams and Shakespeare
fine expensive wines and cold beer
They've got one thing in common
and tonight it's you and I
They talk about Hank Williams and Shakespeare
fine expensive wines and cold beer
They've got one thing in common
and tonight it's you and I
They've got one thing in common
and tonight it's the love of you and I
Oh tonight it's the love of you and I
