She was always hoping
that someday she'd come to understand
Why he left here there
with a ribboned boquet in her hands

But the woman dressed in white
lost a little of herself that night
As the guest all walked away
and the wedding march was never played

At the foot of her bed
sits an old and worn cedar chest
filled with lace and linens
and a faded wedding dress

Late at night she puts it on
and dreams about the
life she could have known
if he'd only had the courage to stay
