Original Songs, written by Eddie Minyard
I want to thank Alan Johnston (cathead) for recording this for me. He has added so very much to this piece, that I will be forever grateful. BRAVO Alan!

Charlies Rules
2005 Alan Johnston / Eddie Minyard, BMI
My Mom and Dad split up when I was just a little kid
For years I figured it was over something that I did
I never quite forgave my Mom for taking us away
But things went straight from bad to worse, when Charlie came to stay
My Mom worked as a waitress down at the local grille
Thats where she met Charlie, said his smile gave her a thrill
At first I thought hed be ok, even kinda cool
Then one day while Mom was gone, he taught me Charlies Rules
Dont talk back
Dont say a word
Kids should be seen
But never heard
Do as I say,
Not as I do
You worthless little thing
You best remember Charlies Rules
With a backhand and a bottle, and an old black leather belt
Charlie used to let me know just how he really felt
He said listen to me you little good for nothin', you better mind yer Ps & Qs,
Or Ill kick yer butt every time you break one of Charlies Rules
One day out at Grampas farm, Charlie tied one on
He started in to cussin out and beatin up my Mom
Then he came at me and screamed, he said Ill bust your stubborn head!
But I grabbed Grampas .44, and shot that sucker dead
Dont talk back
Dont say a word
Kids should be seen
But never heard
Do as I say,
Not as I do
You worthless little thing
You best remember Charlies Rules
They tried me as a man, though I was only 17
They said this was the worst shootin they had ever seen
Said I could have got away with no charge for any crime
If I had not reloaded my gun twice and shot ole Charlie 12 more times
Yeah Charlie had his rules and God knows I had mine
He hit and hurt and had his way with body and with mind
But every person has a line that never can be crossed
Now Im in here, but my Mommas safe, so it was worth the cost.
Didn't talk back
Didn't say a word
Last thing he saw
Last thing he heard
Didn't have to say,
Only had to do
This worthless little thing
Put an end to Charlies Rules
No More Charlie's Rules...
Hey Charlie, you know there's a place in the pits of Hell for people like you - and for your Rules!
Hasta la vista, baby.....
