Sandie Thurston songs
This is a different version of our song, "Can You Hear Me Now". We could never decide which version we liked best.
PRAYERS
VERSE 1
The coffee's gotten bitter and the TV sets are off,
The candy stripers closed the gift shop down.
A mother sits and holds a teddy bear,
In the early morning silence, she offers up a prayer,
CHORUS 1
God, can You hear me now,
All night there was a crowd, with the people crying out,
So many here who needed You, now I need to feel You near me,
Finally it’s quiet, God can You hear me now?
VERSE 2
He’s shaken from the sound of ripping metal and the crash
And the look of panic in their daughter’s eyes,
He’s staring at the door to Urgent Care,
In the early morning shadows, he says a prayer,
CHORUS 2
God, can You see me here?
My mind needs to be clear, don’t let them see my fear.
I know I never turn to You, do You still recognize me?
Now that the sun is rising, God, can You see me here?
VERSE 3
She’s so small and fragile lying on a narrow bed
As she opens up her eyes and looks around.
Where’s my mommy, where’s my teddy bear?
And with the faith of a child, she says a prayer.
CHORUS 3
God, please stay here by my side,
I know big girls don’t cry, but I hurt and I don’t know why.
Please, when You see my dad,
when You hear my mommy calling,
Tell them that I need them, and God,
please stay here by my side.
and in the early morning, God answers all their prayers.
