I Been Down That Road Before
Writer: Bruce Scism
Hey, I think she’s smiling at me
I am starting to believe
That she is falling for me
Oh, what would I do for that girl
Well I’d wave the flag unfurled
I’d wrap her dreams up all in pearls
But honey I, I been down this road before
Yes, I been down this road before
Well, I’ve seen this play once before
It left me wanting so much more
So I can’t say that I’m not warned
I, I was left stranded with my dreams
Now just tousled memories
Hanging ‘round to remind me
That honey I, I been down this road before
Yes, I been down this road before
In the morning when I wake I will call and she’ll say
“How did you sleep?” and I’ll say “fitfully”
“I was anxious for the world to turn and spin another day
Maybe spin another chance to carry you away”
So, I will throw caution to the wind
And with both feet jump back in
And hope the play will never end
No, I won’t write the final scene
Til we’re through the in between
May the fat lady never sing
Honey I, I been down this road before
Yes, I been down this road before
Yes honey I, I been down this road before
