Factory Man
By Larry Winemiller
Verse 1
Alarm is ringin’, time to get up
splashes water in his face
Gotta wake up and prepare himself
for that everyday rat race
Same old same old, day in day out
it’s become a matter of will
The mind says no but the body must go
he has to pay the bills
Dreams of places he’d rather be
as he drives to the nine to five
When he punches the clock of reality
there’s hours of hell to survive
Chorus
He’s a factory man, workin’ his life away
it’s how he can manage to live
Knows hard labor ain’t where it’s at
it takes more than it gives
You know, he’s no fan of the plan
but he does the best he can
Puts up with their stuff, gotta be tough
He’s a factory man
mmmmm a factory man
Verse 2
Machines are poundin’, so is his head
will the headache ever end
Boss man screamin’ more, more, more
a policy they never bend
Like a mushroom he’s kept in the dark
fed BS the company way
It sure seems a sin to risk life and limb
for pain and pitiful pay
Has a bad attitude, it’s true
it’s from years of payin’ his dues
If he don’t make rate, they’ll have to wait
he’s got the blue collar blues, the blue collar blues
Chorus
He’s a factory man, workin’ his life away
it’s how he can manage to live
Knows hard labor ain’t where it’s at
it takes more than it gives
You know, he’s no fan of the plan
but he does the best he can
Puts up with their stuff, gotta be tough
He’s a factory man
mmmmmm a factory man
Bridge
He’s just another employee number
on the company payroll
Works long hours with little slumber
at a job that takes its toll
Chorus
He’s a factory man, workin’ his life away
it’s how he can manage to live
Knows hard labor ain’t where it’s at
it takes more than it gives, ya
You know, he’s no fan of the plan
but he does the best he can
Puts up with their stuff, gotta be tough
He’s a factory man
mmmmm a factory man
gotta be tough, it’s rough
he’s a factory man
