Songs that were recorded with only a mic and a acoustic guitar without using a DAW - Or possibly one that was recorded on an old 4 track cassette machine while living in a camper. Nothing special. I do tend to focus heavily on lyrics, although they sometimes tend to be tangential and semi ambiguous, however some might say the same for Roger Waters lyrics.
A recent composition intended to help raise awareness of the continuing battles that combat veterans deal with long after their tour is through.

Can They Ever Really Come Home
 2017 William D Roberson
Verse I
D A G Em A D
They wake up well before the dawn
with a ton of gear they got to put on
then they head out on patrol
never really knowing if the're coming home
Verse II
D A G Em A D
One says every days a holiday
as they try to put on their battle face
but there's on thing they all know
they only got each other, they're on their own.
Chorus
Bm A G Em G A D
As days goes by they dream of going home
....   to see their loved ones don't you know.
What they've seen and what they've done
can they ever really come home.
Lead Break
Verse III
D A G Em A D
We owe them more than just a paycheck
for all the sacrifices they must make
and if you think burning the flag really makes you brave
every time you do it you're spitting on a soldiers grave ....Â
One that had a dream  a dream of coming home .....  [Chorus]
--- Optional Alternate Last Line In Song --
From what I've seen and what I've done
can I ever really come home ...
