Outside In Eddie Minyard - 2007
I’m sitting in a coffeeshop that’s painted on the inside
Like the outside of a small café in Paris
Perfectly reflecting, my current state of mind
It goes to show, it seems to me, things aren’t always as they seem to be And everyplace you think you have arrived, is just a space in time
I thought I knew what we had
I thought I knew you
I thought we both felt the same
I think you thought so too
Now I’m alone in this city
Drowning in latte and pity
Inside an outside-in cafe
Illusions fading away
I wish that I could turn myself so that my outside image
Could change the way I see me on the inside
The space and time continuum, would suddenly be still
In the light of day my heart would say, no enlightened thoughts today Reality rejected by my soul, no more pain to feel
I thought I knew what we had
I thought I knew you
I thought we both felt the same
I think you thought so too
Now I’m alone in this city
Drowning in latte and pity
Inside an outside-in cafe
Illusions fading away
So I sit here ‘neath Parisian stars and listen to Manhattan
Go speeding by the window like my happiness
Another day without you, another night alone
I wish, in some insightful way, I’d see these sights in shades of gray Realize things aren’t all black and white, or right, or wrong
I thought I knew what we had
I thought I knew you
I thought we both felt the same
I think you thought so too
Now I’m alone in this city
Drowning in latte and pity
Inside an outside in cafe
Illusions fading away
Illusions fading away…
