3 years ago Warren Wilken mentioned this title and every year since at the Songramp bash I'd ask him if he'd done anything with it. This last year he replied 'why don't you'. On the ride home it just happened. A major special thanks to Sid, Big Daddy and Jericho Chigger for the BGV's and mixing. Harry Chigger for the inspiration, Rick Bending (Harless Chigger) for the egg and Mike Thomas on Mandolin. Now what's a good Opossum song without a recipe for some good ol Chigger culinary cuisine
           Opossum ala Wilken 
1 part Opossum
2 parts crow
1 egg
add Chiggers to taste
2 cups flower
bake at a comfortable temprature in an unconventional oven for 3 minutes 27 seconds
Chill out
Consume

Was a cold dark night on a Tennessee back road headed up to Chigger Ridge
At the crest of a hill to my surprise, out jumps two beady red eyes
I swerved to the right but it was too late, thump thump and a roll to the side
I could tell right away by the sound that it made that old opossum he had died
That old opossum was dead 

The very next day same Tennessee back road, the crest of the hill, the scene of the crime
There was two lucky crows getting their fill, working the kill, wasting no time
They didnt even flinch as I sped by, another tug and a pull at a leg
The opossum I killed made a mighty good meal, for them two lucky crows that day

With my truck I gotsm, he was moving too slow

Every time I look back at that tragic event I still get a bit confused
The blood and guts the crows and their luck, Im not the least bit amused
The thought of it all puts a wrench in my crawl or maybe I over analyzed
Who knew the opossum, who plays the crow, whats right when one has to die
Tell me what's right when one has to die
