seldom does a song turn out how I anticipate. This isn't one of'm! getting back to some recording thanks to the incredible folks here at the ramp that inspire in so many ways. thank you all.
Big shout out to John Howarth for his sonic savy on the keys and friendship. Also to Dave Owen (alt2country) for getting this out of my antiquated Roland box after the burner went south.
All comments good and bad appreciated
Empty Chair
Copyright Randy Showalter 2011
There’s an empty chair at the table
That’s where he used to set
He’d talk of his day the work and the play
Oh I never will forget
There’s two cars in the driveway
There’s one that never moves
It’s there all the time, there to remind
Of the love ya never lose
Things change rearranged but there all the same
I know I’ll never let go cause it helps me feel the pain
There’s an empty chair at the table
It’s always there filled with memories
Someone who cared and always able
There’s an empty chair at table
There’s a big old tree in the back yard
A seed fell from his hand
It’s as big as the sky it’s there to provide
A sacred place where we can stand
Two more stones in the graveyard
Welcome home father and son
I’ll think of this day to God I will pray
For the strength to carry on
Things change rearranged but there all the same
I know I’ll never let go cause it helps me feel the pain
There’s an empty chair at the table
It’s always there filled with memories
Someone who cared and always able
There’s an empty chair at table
