Songs I have written with Rusty Blake
Here is a new song, written with my dear friend, Rusty Blake, and performed by him.
The song is about growing old and fearing the loss of one's beloved life companion. It offers a comforting, if somewhat fanciful, perspective. It's sappy and romantic, but hey, what else would you expect from Beeswing and Rusty! ;)
Stars
I used to think that life was here and now
We'd love and laugh, then take a final bow
But as my light is fading slowly into grey
With heavy heart my thoughts too often tend to stray
To times when you won't be here by my side
It's hard to bear the thought of our goodbye
They say that there's a star for every soul
And each star takes forever to grow old
And so perhaps if I can search the midnight sky
I'll see you there, my beacon shining bright on high
And I'll know that you will still be by my side
I'll know that we won't have to say goodbye
Shine on, shine on, shine on
My darling evening star
Be there to lead me home
Be there to ease my heart
Maybe one evening many years away
Two lovers gazing at the milky-way
Might see perchance a pair of brighter sparkling lights
Might watch them dance across the magic moonlit night
Two stars aglow forever side by side
Two souls who know they'll never say goodbye
