This 'song' started as a funky riff on piano, that turned into a fun groove. I wanted to play different solo instruments but not make it an instrumental, so I ended up adding a lyric about my time at Tim Scott's song-circle in Concord, NC.
It was great, musical fun and so was writing and recording this - I hope it reflects that, even though the music is anything but the kind of stuff we played...lol.
A FRIEND OF MINE SAID, “IF YA GOT THE TIME,
COME ON DOWN AND PLAY
JUST BRING YOUR MUSE AND A LITTLE BOOZE
AN’ WE’LL CHASE THE BLUES AWAY
GET UP AND SING, AIN’T NO SUCH THING
AS A BUM-NOTE, OR A WRONG CHORD
SET MUSIC FREE, JUST LET IT BE, IT’S SYNCHRONICITY
WHEN YOU COME DOWN TO CONCORD
SOMETHIN’S GOIN’ DOWN IN THAT CAROLINA TOWN
THEY GOT COUNTRY-GUITAR PICKERS
AND COOL JAZZ CITY SLICKERS
YEA, WHAT A SOUND!
GUITAR/PIANO SOLOS
TIM WILL BE PLAYING HIS SWEET UKELELE, SINGING, “HALLELUYA”.
YEA, SPREAD YOUR WINGS AND DO YOUR THING
DON’T THINK ABOUT THAT ONE CHORD
PLAY IN ANY KEY, SING HARMONY. IT’S SYNCHRONICITY
WHEN YOU COME DOWN TO CONCORD
SOMETHIN’S GOIN’ DOWN IN THAT CAROLINA TOWN
THEY BLEND DYLAN WITH THE BEATLES
AN’ SING BYRDS’ SONGS JUST LIKE THE EAGLES
WHAT A SOUND!
