Potter County sergeant dies in training exercise | Amarillo Globe-NewsPaul Buckles (buckles 956) passed away on Friday, May 30. He was the first person to take a lyric of mine and put it to a melody. He was a fine man and a passionate songwriter/performer.He had a heart attack during a training exercise with the police dept.We wrote this song many years ago but the message is the first thing that came to mind when I got the news.Here is a Facebook message from his son Jack"I've been hanging off on posting this, till all the appropriate people were notified.But earlier today my fatherPaul Buckles, collapsed during a training exorcize at work, and passed away. From what I've been told he was laughing and carrying on as usual just a few minutes before, and it was almost instantaneous, likely from a massive heart attack. I take comfort in knowing that he likely didn't suffer, and that he's in a better place now. Probably hitting the fishing hole with his dad and his brother. Please keep my family in your prayers as this is obviously alot for us all to swallow. Especially both my step grandmother and my biological grandmother, as this is the second son they've lost in just a few years. "
