**this is a long song**

Our buddy and fellow Chigger, Big Daddy, passed away back in March 2012 after a short yet fierce fight with cancer. About 6 weeks before he left us, he and I were at his house hangin out and I had my guitar and had my half capo on it and I was noodling up a chord progression.. One that sounded like it might be a keeper for a song.. I guess I had been playing for 40 minutes or so when I noticed Big Daddy furiously writing words in his notebook.. He said "don't stop, just keep playing that.. I've almost got it..." So, play on for a while longer I did. After a few scribble outs and adds he declared it "done for now. I want to sleep on it. You'll remember what you were playing there, right?" I said sure and asked to see the words but he wouldn't let me see them just yet.. wanted to sleep on 'em, he said...

So the next day after breakfast, he said "get your guitar and let me hear that song you were playing yesterday.." Play it I did and he sang the words to himself as I went along.. A few more line/word revisions and run through's and he was satisfied.. He handed me the words which I read and immediatly got the goosebumps and he said "sing it", so I sang the first melody that came to mind to fit the progression.. He liked it and said "that's it, perfect" and then proceeded to tell me his vision for the production of the song..

The songs title is The Dream and that's what he wanted to create. An audio dream. He said to me, "play it and record it just the way it came together for you yesterday. Noodle your way into the progression as if the song is coming to you - like it did yesterday. Do that twice through then the third time through I want you to start saying a few of the words.. Like you've found the progression and now the words are coming to you slowly.. I want you to run through all three verses like that. Just a word or two every other line comes to you in your mind and you say them out loud. In the meantime during those three times through, I want a high voice waaaaaaaay off the distance to gradually get louder to actually sing the song word for word but you can't hear yet.. by the second time of the three times through it should be barely audible.. By the third time through it should sound like an angel singing.. Then after all that I want a one time through instrumental and after that I want you and who ever you get to sing the hi part to sing the three verses all the way through then fade.. The dream is over..."

I mentioned the lyrics gave me the chills? Well, we'd just found out that weekend that the Chemo and radiation wasn't working and Brians time was short... I asked him "are you actually having this dream?" and he winked, smiled and said "naa, but let everyone think I am..." LOLOL
