This is the last of the more recent stuff that Marty and I have done. We'll post some of our older work every few weeks or so, just so our friends on the Ramp won't forget us! Thanks to everyone for your constructive criticisms, encouragement, and kind words.
When we play live this is usually the song we close with, so we felt it was appropriate. Marty's wife, Vicki, makes a guest appearance on backing vocals. Hope you enjoy! -David and Marty (Porter and Miller)
Freedom Flight
Hammering my life away while I dream.
Hammering my life away under this tree.
Have I ever done anything that will be
Remembered by anyone but me?
Hammering my life away in the sun.
Hammering my life away on the run.
Have I ever seen something that no one
Else will ever see?
Not me, no, not me.
It’s time to set myself free.
Rolling down the highway with my heart on my sleeve
And my eyes set to the sky.
The butterflies inside of me make me feel like a kid
With his first date nerves on high.
With every mile I put behind the hammer falls once less time
And I feel like I can fly.
Take me where you want to, I don’t care where we go
As long as we do.
The bridges burning from behind say tell my brain
To tell my feet to move.
No doubt when my life is through the story written must include
The chapter I’m now through.
Don’t ask questions, don’t ask why, it barely makes sense to me.
Now I’m on my freedom flight for as far as I can see.
Don’t ask questions, don’t ask why, it barely makes sense to me.
Now I’m on my freedom flight for as far as I can see.
Lady Jane, with the eyes of fire, you remind me
Of a spotlight I once found.
But that don’t mean the promises I make
Will make me stick around.
Can’t you see you tie me down, your love’s
More weight for me to carry ‘round,
'Cause now I’m rainbow bound.
Don’t ask questions, don’t ask why, it barely makes sense to me.
Now I’m on my freedom flight for as far as I can see.
Don’t ask questions, don’t ask why, it barely makes sense to me.
Now I’m on my freedom flight for as far as I can see.
Don’t ask questions, don’t ask why, it barely makes sense to me.
Now I’m on my freedom flight for as far as I can see.
Don’t ask questions, don’t ask why, it barely makes sense to me.
Now I’m on my freedom flight for as far as I can see.
