I'm going to hang a ladder
from the furtherest most star
and though the end may be
light years away, that doesn't faze me
cause I know when I get there
to the top,, my true love will be their
--
earthlings bore with their troubles and woes
always bursting a hearts bubble, just for show
my starry eyed girl will not know from
frizzy curls, and when I arrive she will simply hum
a happy tune, cheerfully my being she will inhale
with a whoop and a woosh, and of course
a twist of the devils tail
--
and we shall dance in the shadow of jupiters moons
kicking our legs and bobbing our heads
and if we ever grow tired, we will lie down and spoon
and sink into each other in our feather bed of stars
never knowing of the cruel world below
and when time moves so slowly
forever is not for mourners
forever is always right around the corner
--
perhaps those with high powered telescopes will see
and name a constellation after us
if I could make a suggestion, I would tell them
to call the constellation love
--
wouldn't it be special if we could light the way
to happier days on the planet earth
put the people in an everlasting trance
of good will and wothiness
--
and we shall dance in the shadow of jupiters moons
kicking our legs and bobbing our heads
and if we ever grow tired, we will lie down and spoon
and sink into each other in our feather bed of stars
never knowing of the cruel world below
and when time moves so slowly
forever is not for mourners
forever is always right around the corner
--
with a whoop and a woosh, and of course
a twist of the devils tail
