This is Ronnie's and my "homage" to the Detroit and Philly sounds of the 70's. I'll let him explain how it came about:-
A couple of weeks back Steve Adamczyk (Porkbeli ) posted a couple of Doo Wop songs he had wrote because he liked that music and enjoyed it as a kid growing up, Listening to these got me thinking. Most of my early teenage years, was played out against a backdrop of Philly and Detroit sounds equipped with only, what I thought then, was my own brand of self-consciousness, acne and a leaking biro (?)...oh and a bunch of mates who took no prisoners, I went forth into the jaws of teenage romance.......and of course heartache.
So, Diane and I thought we’d try and write an arrangement / song similar to those that were playing then. Diane came up with an absolute peach of a lyric that was just so part of that moment. (Like I’m surprised?) The rest was trying to get somewhere near the vibe those songs had. I hope we did do that a little.
So Steve thanks for the initial inspiration, and of course, thanks must go to Eugene and the Boys (who were all actually from Chicago!), for getting me through the (self inflicted) dramas of that “difficult” time.
