Two Ordinary Slobs (Episode 4)
the day started simply enough
coffee, sausage, egg, and cheese
parked in a supermarket lot
when suddenly Rob and Anna were center stage
A gas main explosion in alphabet city
Avenue C, was anything but pretty
the south side of the block looked like a war zone
thousands of ordinary slobs lost their homes
the death toll started at ten
then seemed to multiply by ten and ten again
sirens blaring Rob and Anna
surveyed the scene
it was enough to make them cry
but there was work to be done
getting the survivors into ambulances
emergency rooms with tough decisions
who lives who dies, who has that much wisdom
hour by hour the streets were being cleaned up
in their fifteenth hour Rob looked at Anna
there's really not much more we can do
Anna said Rob that might be true
but in these cases, the pets are left to die
could you imagine our dog Reno all alone
locked in, nowhere to go, but to look the reaper in the eye
let's make a quick search, see what pets are still alive
we'll round them up, call bide-a-wee
or maybe we're crazy, and we should just go home
no said Rob, times a wasteing, let's do it
let's save the kitties and the bow wows, now!!!
breaking down smoldering doors
once inside the animals were one in all scared
happy to see anyone, they left in orderly fashion
Anna laughed when Rob said
these are some extra-ordinary slobs
