Two Ordinary Slobs Episode 7

Rob and Anna finished up an uneventful day,a seat belt violation and a jay walking ticketwere the only things they had to show, ok, okthere was no jay walking ticket, though in a timegone by, when crime didn't pay so well, and so manyhadn't fell....it was check out time and soon they would pick uptheir daughter Amelia and take her to play in thehighschool basketball game. Amelia was a point guardand had come a long way from her not so successfulredshirted freshman season, to become a starter, on thevarsity team. The halftime buzzer had just rung, and Rob andAnna were off to the concession stand for a dog or two,when this girl comes running out of the stands onto thecourt, and without hesitation, stabs Amelia below her left ribcage. Rob and Anna were horrified when they heard a scream, and immediately knew it was their daughterAmelia, who was lying on the court, bleeding and writhingin pain.Rob called 911 and they both checked out Amelia,who though wounded, was conscious and told themthat Aretha the girlfriend of Aaron who was the brother ofAlicia the girl whose family was put in witness protectionbecause she informed Rob and Anna about the wheraboutsof a gang fight. Amelia said Aretha had been harrassing her,threatening her, that somebody had to pay for her losingthe love of her life.The ambulance arrived, and the medics assured our heroesthat their daughter would be fine, no vital organs were involved in the the incident. Rob went with the ambulancewhile Anna cuffed Aretha, and followed behind to the hospital.Anna said you know you're in a lot of trouble, you just can't goaround stabbing people, because your feelings were hurt, I knowthis is hard on you, but would you rather Aaron be dead, whichwas the only possible outcome? Aretha said why can't you tellme where Aaron is? Anna said sorry, but it just doesn't work thatway.When they arrived at the hospital, Amelia said she didn't want to press charges against Aretha, becuaseshe understood how sad she was at losing her boyfriendand just wished the whole mess would go away. Rob saidsorry sweetie, you have a good heart, but when somebodystabs someone in a public place, it's not a matter of pressingcharges, it's a class one felony plain and simple. Amelia did convinceher parents to talk to the D.A. about not trying Aretha as an Adult, which is often done in cases like this.In Juvi court, Aretha was sentenced to one year of institutionalized psychiatric care. Amelia who was healed and out of the hospital, went to the hearing, and promisedAretha she would visit her in the facility. A still angry Arethascoffed, a lot of good that's going to do me. True to her word everday after school, Alicea, would visit Aretha. After a rough start, a lot of starring into space, Ameliasaid to Aretha, if you want I could stop coming to visityou, and Aretha said no, don't do that, you're my onlylink to sanity, the only one who understands me. I realize what I did was wrong, and the fact that I could havekilled you and that you still come to visit everydaymeans a lot to me. Amelia kept Aretha updated on the goingson at the highschool, who was dating who, and even introducedAretha to an orderly at the facility, and it was clear, that Arethawould soon forget Aaron, highschool romances being as fickle asthay are,Amelia and Aretha became really good friends, it's strangehow things work out, sometimes, but when you have a good heart like Amelia, all things are possiblerittmo'
