When John sent me this melody, it spoke to me of a longing-for-home kind of nostalgia. As John would be singing the song I didn't think it would be appropriate to write about my own English home, so I tried to put myself into his boots so to speak :)....and wrote about his beloved home state. I just hope I did his wonderful music and vocals justice.
Wildflower Roads

When it's hard to sleep
Lying in this dry desert heat
My thoughts turn to you
And your nights soft and sweet
I can feel the peace
In the warmth of your southern smile
I can hear your voice
So clear through the miles
You're calling softly, calling out to me
My heart is in your sparkling city down by the sea
(instrumental)
How I wanna be
Heading down the highway to you
Down wildflower roads
Through meadows of blue
And it seems to me
That I've been away for too long
From your endless skies
And mockingbird's song
You're calling softly, calling out to me
My heart is in your sparkling city down by the sea
How I wanna be
Heading down the highway to you
Down wildflower roads
Through meadows of blue
