A couple of years ago my friend Wendy Eliza said of my lyric writing, "Diane, you see the world softly!"
I liked the phrase so much that I wrote this lyric around it.
It is quite a personal lyric..give or take a little artist's licence!.....and I am so pleased that Rusty agreed to be my voice...I can't think of anyone to whom I would rather have entrusted these words! He sings it with such expression ....and those guitars of his sing so sweetly too!
Thank you so much Rusty!
When Wendy read this lyric she created a lovely collage for me. (see below)
Thank you Wendy...this song would not exist without you!
I See the World Softly….
I’m not living in a bubble…in spite of what you’ve heard
I’ve had my share of troubles….and I’m not talking just cross words
I’ve spent some time in bedlam….been to purgatory too
But when I look up at the sky, I’m still searching for the blue
I try…yes I try
And you laugh …yes you laugh at me
You say I love fantasy
You say I’m too blind to see
What’s there right in front of me
I see the world softly…..
I see the world softly…..
I’ve wandered with the homeless….and I’ve lost my own way home
I’ve eased an old man’s loneliness…as I watched him turn to stone
I’ve listened to the broken hearts…in so many midnight bars
But even in the darkest night, I’m still looking for the stars
I try…yes I try
You can laugh …you can laugh at me
You can tell me it’s all fantasy
Tell me I’m too blind to see
But don’t try to sell me
…. your reality…
Cause I see it differently...
I see the world softly…..
I see the world softly…..
