I have seen many of the local kids from salt of the earth families that reject their parents way of life and move to the big city only to get messed up on drugs and ruin their lives. Then try to kick the habit and live back in the small town. some make it and some don't. A little song about maybe considering some of the things your mom and dad say.

My daddy raised us all on this old farm
always said his prayers and caused no harm
we'ld work the ground till it was after dark
and on this piece of ground he left his mark
but I think there's a better life
where those city lights shine so bright

I'm gonna pack my truck and with some luck
find a way to leave
party till I can't stand up 
maybe smoke a little weed
make some friends with fancy cars 
hang out in the biker bars
 (give me three steps)

as years went by I forgot about the farm
then I woke up with a needle in my arm
I pray to God my dad will never see
Just What the hell has become of me
I finally get what daddy said
in the city you can wake up dead 

I'm gonna get down on my knees and pray 
please God help me find a way
to get back home where I belong
with my family 
gonna kiss the ground that daddy plowed
miles away from the madding crowd
and breathe---free

life can really knock you to the ground
and true friendship seldom can be found
the city ain't no place for you to be
if you want to keep your sanity
I finally get what daddy said
in the city you can wake up dead 

I gotta find a way to get back home
where people care and I belong
Hug my dad and brother too
play fetch with the dog
See my friends and spin some yarns
and hang out in the barn
