The Chiggers are playing their classic instruments. I added piano and drums.
Tryin’ To Get Them Clean

V1
Willie washes dishes for the diner
Used to drive a school bus for the children of the town
Folks say he’s a hero but he sure don’t look the part
As he stares into that pile o' dirty pots and pans
Tryin’ to get the clean
Tryin’ to get them clean
Spends his days tryin’ to get them clean.
V2
Happened on a cold day in December
Bus was flyin’ down a hill when the brakes went to the floor
At the bottom when they hit the trees, the bus shot through a clearin’
‘Say that 50 kids would’ve surely died if Willie hadn’t steered them through.
Tryin’ to get them clean
Tryin’ to get them clean
Spends his days tryin’ to get them clean.
BRIDGE
Willie had a daughter; If you’d met the man, you’d know.
The love he held for her, it was endearing
She was with her mama, playing in the snow,
Kneeling just beyond that narrow clearing.
V3
Willie washes dishes for the diner.
And fifty men and women, still alive and well
I guess its no one’s place to say that he’d even had a choice
But the old man spends his waking hours
With his hands in soapy water
Tryin’ to get them clean. Tryin’ to get them clean
Spends his days tryin’ to get them clean.
Tryin’ to get them clean
Tryin’ to get them clean
Spends his days tryin’ to get them clean.
