This song was born out of our trip to Chicago a coupla months ago in which we saw Eddie Vedder & Glen Hansard in concert,Eddie has a ukulele cd just out (which is kick***) I bought a ukulele at Old Town School of Folk Music and have been goofing with it now for bout 6 weeks...I'm just giving it basic strums but its lotta fun...I came up with a melody soon after that I thought needed to be played on a uke not guitar..then we were in Asheville,N.C. for Bele Chere coupla weeks ago and one thing standing out (in a bad way)were the street preachers broadcasting hate/intolerance for anyone who seemed different than them (basically everyone else in the universe)..I coaxed Sarah into writing most of the lyrics and in agreeing to SING with me on the track! She doesn't exactly sing,so this is a BIG DEAL for us both..;) Hope ya'll like this one...Its a different approach for me--ts

Enough
Music by Timothy Scott
Lyrics by Sarah Scott & Timothy Scott
V1) You were taught very young / that you should bite your tongue
Better not to be seen or heard…
It was safer to hide / in the depths of your mind
Than to risk being laughed at or worse
BR1) The space between the lines / filled in by nervous minds
With threats more frightening than anything ever said
Always been too scared / to show someone you care
You walk alone instead
Chorus:
Don’t believe those angry preachers on the street (they can’t judge)
Or anyone who tries to tell you how to feel (or what to trust)
You will become who you were always meant to be
When you love yourself enough
When you love yourself enough
V2) Even now you’re afraid / to leave the bed you have made
You ignore the alarm every day…
But the things that you fear / from the top of the stairs
Were not meant for you anyway
BR2) It may be past midnight / but you can find some light
Defy the dark thoughts and open up all the blinds
Drown out that tiny voice / saying you have no choice
Take a step outside
Chorus:
Don’t believe those angry preachers on the street (they can’t judge)
Or anyone who tries to tell you how to feel (or what to trust)
You will become who you were always meant to be
When you love yourself enough
Chorus:
Don’t believe those angry preachers on the street (they can’t judge)
Or anyone who tries to tell you how to feel (or what to trust)
You will become who you were always meant to be
When you love yourself enough
When you love yourself enough
