This one is a poem written by Peggy Atwood Mack (newbeginnings) that she asked me to put to music. The lyrics were inspired by a photo she had taken of two friends walking together - with both of them going through difficult trials in their life. This was a bit of a challenge for me, as I'd never tried to put music to a poem.
TWO FRIENDS WALKED
Lyrics by Peggy Atwood Mack
Music by Dale Crockett
Old friends strolled
One summer's day
beneath the ancient oaks
Their footsteps soft
on sandy trails
as were the words they spoke
Morning sunlight
kissed green leaves
and cooled the gentle breeze.
And I withdrew
to give them time
to share a long embrace.
I stood in awe
of two lives here
their courage and their pain
Time shows its toll
on sweet tired eyes
and lines that touch their face....
and yet....
On they go walking
side by side
as if time has no hold...
for even time
lets go its grip
to faith and love and hope.
