This fun little ditty was born from the experience of visiting...often....a tiny community on the beautiful Gulf Coast of Florida between Panama City Beach and Destin. The area is somewhat still pristine containing mostly concrete block homes with old screened porches which belonged to local fisherman and summer visitors in the 50's.
Now, nearby Yuppie upscale "villages" are threatening to mow down the lore and beauty of Grayton Beach, but it is.....what we understand is part of change.
There's a lovely home called Eden .......a Southern mansion built for the love of a woman....in Greco-Roman style complete with a large reflecting pool in front so she could see her beauty. Often there are art fairs and summer music concerts on the beach.
From those memories.....I wrote this simple lyric......and I love the memories that come to me when I listen to it.

She lived East of Eden
on Highway 30A
In a tiny summer cottage
between the Gulf and bay
She loved the soft white sand dunes
that laced the tiny beach
She loved to feel the ocean mist
And a soft summer breeze.
I spent the summer dreamin’
In her world by the sea,
Summer sun,
Summer nights,
This summer love and me.
Winter came
The cold winds blew
And families moved away
Cottages were boarded up
For no one stayed to play.
I knew my summer love
would be leaving soon,
We walked along the silver shore,
Under a silver moon,
She told me that she loved me,
Her heart was always mine,
I took her home to marry me
And love her for all times.
And now we spend our summers
Between the Gulf and bay,
In all kinds of weather,
Our love has remained,
Through summer sun and winter winds
We’ll love eternally
on a Highway east of
in our cottage by the sea.
She lived East of Eden
on Highway 30A
In a tiny summer cottage
between the Gulf and bay
She loved the soft white sand dunes
that laced the tiny beach
She loved to feel the ocean mist
And a soft summer breeze.
