One winter morning, I was sitting at one of those long, forever red lights and I looked up at the telephone wires. On the wire were hundreds of tiny sparrows, shoulder to shoulder and the icy wind was rocking them and the wire they were sitting on...and I thought...God, how do little sparrows make it through a storm?
And then.....another lyric was born.
This comes from my simpler bluegrass, blues era of writing.....but these songs had all been lost to me....and just Monday, I got them back....like gifts I never expected to receive......I hope you find something you enjoy.

Like tiny sparrows
Who face stormy winds
They flock together
To survive once, again
Just birds on a wire
With nowhere to go
They cling together
While winter winds blow
In the line of the storm
Far from safety and warmth
Seems to be no doubt
We’ve got no way out
We’re in ..
The line of the storm.
Hard times are coming
And we know that it’s true
In spite of all we’re doing
There’s nothing that’s new
So we cling together
To face these hard times
We’re hoping tomorrow
The sun will shine….
In the line of the storm
Far from safety and warmth
Seems to be no doubt
We’ve got no way out
We’re in ..
The line of the storm.
We’re in the line…of the storm.
