Of all the lyrics I've ever written, this one's my favorite inspiration...it's not my best example of writing because it was from my earliest efforts.....but..it reflects what I saw and enjoyed in 36 years of teaching, most of them spent in Kindergarten and First grade.
Little ones eyes and hearts are so filled with hope and promise and simply see no evil. What a joy it was to teach them.......at Christmas...I remember if you told them there were angels singing...they could not only imagine hearing them, they swore they could see them.......too!
James Cain and George Carter, Jr. recorded a new country version for me.....using my old lyrics and revising them with my joy and permission...and added a new perspective which changed it in a wonderful way.

And here's the original lyrics from 2003 in a bluegrass style featuring mandolin, dobro and bass.
Children’s Eyes-original
Written and composed in 2003
Peggy Mack-lyrics and melody
Joe Attwood-vocal, instrumental, recording
Children’s eyes see a world of joy and beauty
Children’s eyes see a world of hopes and dreams
In a soldier standing proudly
As a flag goes waving by
It’s a promise for tomorrow in children’s eyes.
Lord I wish that we could see through
Children’s eyes.
Through children’s eyes we can see the light of heaven
Through children’s eyes we can see the angels sing
We can have hope for tomorrow
We can all live peacefully
We can see our world together
Through Children’s eyes.
We can see the light of Heaven
We can see the angels sing
If we saw our world together
Through children’s eyes.
Mandolin/dobro break
Children’s hearts seem to beat with trust and love
Children’s hearts have no fear of what might be
It’s happy ever after, that’s how their stories go
In a peace that has no ending,
Children’s hearts
Lord I wish that we could all have Children’s hearts.
We can see the light of Heaven
We can see the angels sing
If we saw our world together
Through children’s eyes.
There’s a world of joy and beauty
In Children’s eyes.
