One day I was listening to an obscure singer/songwriter whose name was Mo-something...(I can't remember). He had taken one single word and used it throughout a song and it was really interesting and a good song...so I thought...I wonder if I can do that, too.
So......I started with the word "empty"....and thought of everything I could that would connect with the word and build a single storyline.
I hope you enjoy......
The Empty Blues
Peggy Mack – lyrics
Joe Attwood – vocal, instruments, recording
Created 2005/revised 2011
Empty lives once filled with love,
Oh the kind dreams are made of,
Empty arms that held me
Oh so tight
Empty dreams now gone
In the middle of the night.
Empty beds where lovers slept
Empty secrets we once kept
Empty trust no longer mine
Empty souls now lost in time
Chorus:
I’m so empty baby
From my head down to my shoes
I’m so empty now
I’m so blue
I’m so empty baby
That I don’t know what I’ll do
Little Baby, what can I do
I’ve got the empty blues.
Empty house up on the hill
That our sweet laughter filled
Empty hopes for better times
Empty dreams lost in the middle
Of the night.
Empty beds where lovers slept
Empty secrets we once kept
Empty trust no longer mine
Empty souls now lost in time
Chorus:
I’m so empty baby
From my head down to my shoes
I’m so empty now
I’m so blue
I’m so empty baby
That I don’t know what I’ll do
Little Baby, what can I do
I’ve got the empty blues.

Chorus:
I’m so empty baby
From my head down to my shoes
I’m so empty now
I’m so blue
I’m so empty baby
That I don’t know what I’ll do
Little Baby, what can I do
I’ve got the empty blues.
