The story behind the lyric: I once had to take a connecting to Memphis and onto Nashville. The only flight from Panama City left at 5:30 am. Ugh! What misery trying to catch that flight.....
I often woke early on Saturday mornings, while the family slept, so I could write song lyrics.....and every Sat morning....the flight flew overhead...often still before the sun rose...and I wondered...who wakes up THAT early so they can catch a 5:30 am flight.??..
and the lyric started spinning in my head.....maybe...someone who is leaving and doesn't want anyone to know...
Thus the song:
5:30 Plane to
Peggy Mack
February 3, 2011
Track 4 recording
Instrumental opening:
She took the 5:30 plane to
She left me in the middle of the night
She took the 5:30 plane to
She was leavin’, leavin’
Leavin’ ‘fore the mornin’ light.
I woke up in the darkness, n’ felt so all alone
Even in the darkness I could see that she was gone
Guitar break:
She took the 5:30 plane to
She left me in the middle of the night
She took the 5:30 plane to
She was leavin’, leavin’
Leavin’ ‘fore the mornin’ light.
Cup of coffee warms my hand, breaks the chill inside
Then I began to realize she left me in the night
She took the 5:30 plane to
She left me in the middle of the night
She took the 5:30 plane to
She was leavin’, leavin’
Leavin’ ‘fore the mornin’ light.
The light of day is breaking, I can’t believe she’s gone
A new day has broken, gotta make it on my own.
She took the 5:30 plane to
She left me in the middle of the night
She took the 5:30 plane to
She was leavin’, leavin’
Leavin’ ‘fore the mornin’ light.
She was leavin’, leavin’, leavin’ ‘fore the mornin’ light.
