Not great identifying genres....could be country, blues, bluesgrass, rock-a-billy? You decide! My step-father adds the banjo to this tune...quite a legend around here, so I feel very fortunate to have him play on this song.
Movin

Movin’ not getting anywhere
Movin’ not gettin’ anywhere
Life, just isn’t always fair
Keep pushin’ on but gettin’ nowhere
Pushin’ on but getting’ no where
Began with a plan mapped out
Knowing what it’s all about
School, man, house, kids
That’s what all the rule books said
Yes, that’s what all the rule books said
Well I played it right, and I played it wrong
Took the short road and drove the long
Set the bar high, and I set it low
Still not sure which way to go
Started out ahead, finished last
Life it changes fast, yes, life sure changes fast
After school, I marched down the aisle
Great jobs, living in style
In a house filled with kids
I did what all the rule books said
Yes, I did what all the rule books said
But my plan didn’t quite work out
No clue what it’s all about
No man, and the kids are grown
Got the house, but I’m in it all alone
Got the house, but I’m in it all alone
Great house, but I’m in it all alone
