Marc-Alan Barnette songs
Just when everyone thinks I can't write depressing ballads. This is about as depressing as it gets. One day I was called by hit writer Kim Williams (Three Wooden Crosses) who had been to a show of mine. This song has gotten quite a bit of milage. I used it on an audition which I passed for a Broadway show, the Civil War, which I turned down. From time to time it pops up. I didn't say I couldn't write negative, I just don't do it very often.
ALL ALONE AGAIN
ALL ALONE AGAIN
MAB/KIM WILLIAMS
1994
Am I paying for something that I’ve done
In another life, did I hurt someone
Did I break somebody’s heart somewhere before
Is this pain I feel just evening the score
Face to face with my deepest fear
When you’re gone, where do I go from here
If there is a lesson in everything God does
What’s he trying to teach me about love
Chorus
ALL ALONE AGAIN
ON MY OWN AGAIN
CAN MY HEART TAKE IT ANY LONGER
IF WHAT DON’T KILL YOU MAKES YOU STRONGER
I’LL BE AS STRONG AS ANYONE COULD BE
CAUSE YOU’RE LEAVING ME RIGHT WHERE I WAS BACK THEN
ALL ALONE AGAIN
It hurts so much to think this is the end
And I will never hold you close again
Forever seems like such a long, long time
To go on living with these empty arms of mine
Chorus
