This is a song that I wrote with my friend, Melanie Blinn.
Halfway Home From The Halfway House
MW/PJ
They turned me loose at 9 o'clock, this morning
Said my time was up, I was free to go
Standing on the sidewalk as a free man
There were lots of things I just didn't know
Like how to find my way back to the inside your heart
I should start walking, but, all I do is stare
I could ride the bus or catch a cab with my last 5 bucks
But it scares me wondering if you even care
So I'm halfway home from the halfway house this morning.
Not quite sure what I'm coming home to
I'm in a hurry, yet just as much I want to take my time.....
Halfway home from the halfway house; am I halfway home to you?
The church bells ring way off in the distance
And a church might be the place I need to be
But, walking thru the front door, I don't know who I am
Lord, there's lots of things I'm not sure I'll see
Like how to find my way back to the inside her heart
If she wants me back at home, that's still up in the air
Take a bus, a cab, or stick my thumb out Lord, if just for luck
It scares me wondering if she even cares.
So I'm halfway home from the halfway house this morning.
Not quite sure what I'm coming home to
I'm in a hurry, yet just as much I want to take my time.....
Halfway home from the halfway house; am I halfway home to you?
