Charles Saunders songs
This was the first song I ever wrote. Began with lyrics several year ago. Now at last, with the incredible talent of Mike Cunningham, this song has come alive more beautifully than I had ever imagined. I especiallyhave to thank John and Marilyn Haynie whose patient help with my first attempt at the music for this song made me believe I really could write songs. Certainly without their gracious help I would not now be writing songs. Most of the music came from Mike Cunningham with only bits of input from me. And, Mike's keen suggestions helped me hone the lyrics in some critical places to make the song what it is. Thanks Mike! And thanks to all of you for listening!!!

Verse
When you think you have burned all your bridges behind you
and you've got nowhere left to turn,
You always have me, the *one man who loves you.
You still have one bridge that won"t burn.
Chorus
Take my hand, come let me hold you
Come dance in my arms all night long.
In time you'll see I'm faithful and true
long after they've played the last song.
Verse
Like this waltz there'll be turns
and I'll be there **to lead you
as long as it takes you to learn
you can still count on me the *one man who loves you
cause I am a bridge that won't burn.
Chorus
Take my hand, come let me hold you
Come dance in my arms all night long.
In time you'll see I'm faithful and true
long after they've played the last song.
Lead Break
Verse
One step at a time, we'll move to the measure
as long as it takes you to learn,
that your heart's safe with me as we face life together.
My love is a bridge that won't burn.
Chorus
Take my hand, come let me hold you,
why don't you give my love a chance.
In time you'll see I'm faithful and true
long after they've played the last dance,
long after they've played the last dance.
