Derek Buchal songs
I was looking through some of the lyrics in the writer's room and I saw this one written by BGjeff and really like them, so I asked him if it would be alright to put some music to it. He said to go for it so I did. This is what I came up with. Sarah had a bit of trouble with a couple of the harmony parts but overall it came out very well. I should have tuned it down a half-step. Maybe a re-do eventually.
"The Whiskey Turns To Tears"
Words by Jeff Mondak
Music & Melody by Derek Buchal
Vocals Derek and Sarah
All instruments Derek
(Verse 1)
You promised me forever eleven years ago
We made handprints in the drive but they're hidden beneath the snow
You didn't pay November's bill so they cut off the phone
You turned our home into a house with me left so alone
(Chorus)
There's a bottle between us where you used to lie
It's here and your gone and I still don't know why
Your leaving will hurt when the bottle runs dry
And the whiskey turns to tears
I ask myself what I did to make you make this choice
The only answer that I here's the echo of my voice
You left behind your toothbrush and an empty front-porch swing
And over on the table's where you left your wedding ring
(Repeat Chorus)
(Bridge)
The furnace make the curtains dance
Why weren't we worth another chance
They're twirling, swirling gracefully
They're are two of them, but only one of me
(Modified Chorus)
There's a bottle between us where you used to lie
It's here and your gone and I still don't know why
Your leaving is hurting and the bottle's run dry
And the whiskey's turned to tears
And the whiskey's turned to tears
