Right About Now
Standing at the kitchen sink this morning
Staring down that old driveway
Takes me back to my childhood
And how we began the day
Momma filled daddy’s lunch box
While cooking Oatmeal on the stove
By the time she got everything done
Her own cup of coffee was cold
1st Chorus
Right about now, she’d be calling
Hey wake up sleepy-head
Don’t let the sun light warp your teeth
Get on out of that bed
Right about now she’d be holding me
While daddy kissed us both good bye
Boy, if I could only turn back time
I would, right about now
Verse
Listening to the neighbors correct their children
Reminds me of a time
When I got in trouble for doing something
Momma tore up my behind
When she told daddy what I’d done
He put the fear of God in place
I’d love to go back to that day
And see the look upon my face
2nd Chorus
Right about now he’d be saying
Don’t make me tell you twice
An ounce of prevention won’t weigh you down
Sit up straight and be nice
Right about now a daddy’s giving in
To that pitiful little frown
Boy if I could only turn back time
I would, right about now.
