Ann Mayo Muir songs
I wrote this many years back as a tribute to my dentist who never hurt me once
and always played music with me when I came. He gave me 2 gold inlays for a
wedding gift and before he died he gave me his precious violin which helped to
put him through school and which he played all his life. He was one of only two adults who vadidated me as a musician when age 10 for I could play all the right chords to the old standards.
Thank you Don!
THE DENTIST CHAIR'S FOR ME
Sitting in the Dentist's Chair, I did't really have a care
13 cavities were there and I was playing HOOKIE !
I was 10 years old that day. How did my teeth get that way?
TOO much candy and cake they say, Not to mention cookie.
Here comes the needle of Novocain. Do I cry or feel the pain?
I'm not scared, let me explain, I'm in Love with my Dentist !
He first put's liquid on my gum to make it feel a little numb.
The needle sort of pushes some and then we play some music.
Into his office chairs we glide. Our instruments are at our sides.
He plays the fiddle, I never tried. I play the ukulele.
We play Over The Rainbow, Slow Boat To China, Charmaine.
We stop for 2 minutes, move back where we were,.
And he slips in more Novacane. Then back to the music,
We play up a storm and after several more tunes
I'm back in the chair completely prepared for whatever ensues.
Don't feel the drills, I don't mind the water or the smells
I'm a surgeon's daughter. And over it all the music fills
A heart that thrills for I'm in Love with my Dentist.
Eyes bluer the the sky, teeth as white as snow
A smile brighter then the sun, a voice with a singing flow,
Melodious, gentle, humorous, sentimental
And all I had to do to keep him by my side
Was sit and stare into his eyes with my mouth open wide.
Oh Rapture, oh Joy, the Dentist's Chair's for me.
I can hardly wait to be sitting there again so he
Can stand there looking down at me, saying
See you next week at quarter to three
There're ten more cavities to fill , you see?
That's more then fine with me,
For I'm in Love with my Dentist.
It's all True!
Thanks for listening,
Annie
