Russ Reilly songs
***FROM THE MOUNT RUSSMORE ARCHIVES***
I recently took some of my older recordings and ran them through the mastering program on my Akai DPS24. Lo and behold, that magical machine improved the amateurish sound quality so much it made me want to share them with the public!
Mind you, no machine can disguise some sloppy tempos or off-key vocals, but what the heck, I was just a kid, right? The thing that struck me about listening to songs I had written over a decade ago was the lyrical content. These tunes clearly displayed the concerns of youth (or lack thereof!), as opposed to my more world-weary musings of late. I might not be as quick to attempt "rapping" these days either....
brutal device
good intentions
in excessive quantities
can become your
brutal device
your affection
like a tropical disease
a condition
which i despise
oh lord, is that you outside the door again i thought i told you we'd be only friends kinda hoped this time you'd understand know what i'm sayin'? so what if i lent a helpin' hand when you were in need or did some weed or passed my seed- that don't make me Rasputin
(chorus)
no, no don't go kiss and tell all about your slender wrists and how they slit- tell your shrink this- don't want to know what films you made 'cause x-rate don't do nothin' to me dn't get me up don't make it hard for me to say you need a priest babe- if you want to get saved
(chorus)x2
so now you're sayin' that i deserve because you served dessert then i had the nerve to throw a curve does that sound like the way it went down? it's like my head is snappin' in a vice chock full of your plausible white lies it's too late to save me, but here's some kingly advice...
