Mike Prather recorded the very fun original version of this song about three years ago. When we were working on Sergio's CD , Sergio and Alex were in the mood to rock out a bit at the time they came to this one. Thus, they kept some of Mike's ideas and developed some new ones. I was taking a nap at the time, until Sergio woke me in a panic saying they needed two more lines for the song.
Regarding Laurie
Words by Jeff Mondak
Music by Mike Prather & Sergio Wals
Performed by Sergio Wals & Alex Stangl
My dear loving mother
I write you this letter
In hope that our future together is better
The problem's much worse than a rash or a blister
As surely you know, it is Laurie, my sister
I'm certain that no one but Laurie's enjoying
The fact that she's loud and extremely annoying
She's ruined our lives with all of her scheming
But if I complain then I know she'll start screaming
I'm asking politely, I plead with you nightly
But still you ignore my request
Don't bribe me with candy Or say life is dandy
We both know my sister's a pest
She entered our home, I was never consulted
In all of these years only bad has resulted
I'm minding my business, she gets me in trouble
You're shopping for snacks and the bill's always double
You say that this summer we'll travel the nation
We need a solution before our vacation
The job must be done and it's yours for the doing
So take care of Laurie, or mother--I'm suing
I've asked you politely, I've pled with you nightly
But still you've ignored my request
Don't bribe me with candy Or say life is dandy
We both know my sister's a pest
