The River
"I will extend peace to her like a river"
This song is about a real river, a real bridge and a wounded seagul
A gentle breeze
The embers of a sunset
The tidal river's children skipping joyfully to the sea
And on this bridge of sighs
This seagull softly cries
As the river sings it's healing song to me
The city lights
Lend beauty to the darkness
As the setting sun sings lullabies and puts the day to sleep
The timid moon awakes
As this heart gently breaks
Emotions stir as deep calls unto deep
Deep calls unto deep
As the giant stirs, no longer left to sleep
I feel my heart
I hear its rhythmic beating
As the blood maintains it's flow through every artery and vein
The river sings, "I'm here"
A voice that's soft but clear
Without words it speaks "I understand your pain."
Deep calls unto deep
As the giant stirs, no longer left to sleep
Time and tide
Will wait for no man
The path on which I stand was built to bridge the river's banks
I stand between two shores
Its afters and befores
And on my way I bid the river "Thanks."
