Chris Price songs
I wrote this a few weeks ago (I've probably worked this song more than any other of my recent offerings). Its a genre I love but don't find easy to write for. Don't be too nice about it - I'm a praise junkie but would be happy with one or two however's.
Wakes every morning
Wakes every morning
With longing deep inside his heart
He and his love are many miles apart
The damage done he's moving on
Ain't nothing gonna be the same
He'd change the lines that haunt his mind
If the script was his to write again
CHORUS:
Can't believe he lost his one and only love
The only loss he couldn't bear
God knows you can't say he didn't care
Stubborn as a crazy mule, the goddamn fool
Lost a woman that he can't replace
Man's on a mission
He knows she's his only saving grace
Tried hard to please her
To satisfy her every whim
Looked up to her when she looked down on him
He tried to heal the pain she'd feel
When she needed him to understand
He'd bend to be her friend
When she wanted him to be a man
CHORUS
BRIDGE
The day is empty and long the night
He sure has plenty of wrongs to right
Minds what he eats now
He works out every other day
Fills up his time to keep the blues away
Now he still knows the highs and lows
That threaten to derail the train
The sugared pills and petty thrills
That will never really ease the pain
CHORUS
He knows she's his only saving grace
Wakes every morning
With longing deep inside his heart
