Chris Price songs
This is a song I wrote and recorded at Christmas 2005 but I can't remember if more than 1 person has heard it. As you will gather the theme is buried talents and I have obviously not heeded the lesson.
"Pass me another", said Gabriel
"Pass me another", said Gabriel
Packaged and labelled to put on the shelf
We're full to bursting with parcels unclaimed
'Cause no one collects them
Its such a shame
Such a shame when the world is in need
Such a shame when we're blighted by greed
There's enough to go round with still plenty to spare
But you're off chasing crowns for your fine braided hair
There are treasures a plenty in heaven, there
Waiting for you
We sent heralds abroad to the cities and towns
To offer free gifts but no takers were found
The rich were complacent, the poor had their pride
Their message unheeded, the heralds just cried
Such a shame when the world is in need
Such a shame when we're blighted by greed
You see on the TV the dreams realized
Of those you applaud and admire
They're gifted, they're driven, there's stars in their eyes
They've got all that their hearts could desire
But whether you're destined for fame and success
You cannot do better than your very best
The best with the talents that God gave to you
Whatever it is you've been given to do.
So when you're discouraged and all you can see
Are four solid walls and your wide screen TV
Just wiggle your fingers and watch what they do
You'll see there is none more amazing than you
Such a shame when the world is in need
Such a shame when we're blighted by greed
There are powers within you you've never explored
There are talents you've buried, denied or ignored
Go borrow the dreams that you cannot afford
Discover horizons at home or abroad
I have plans for your future for good not for ill
To succeed and to prosper, your hopes to fulfil
I have stood by your side and I always will
Says the Lord
"Pass me another", said Gabriel
