Short poems are a challenge to write. To be effective, the poem has to create a character and tell that character`s story, all in the space of just a handful of lines. I enjoy writing short poems, even if sometimes I swing and miss. Here are seven, all with musical accompaniment by Ed Dunn.

4. Of Bowls and WishesA bowlA bowlI've gotA bowlI wish I wishI hadA fishBut dratBut dratI haveA cat5. UlnaLast week I got my skates at lastThe other kids? I whizzed right past!Slow down, cried Mom, That's much too fast!Then yesterday I got this cast6. Bee StingOh my, oh meI see a beeI think he wantsTo sting my kneeOh drats, oh dredIt's like I saidExcept he gotMy nose instead!
